We asked our residents where to find the best Sunday roast in Tunbridge Wells. With 15+ recommended we’re spoilt for choice! Ranging from country pubs to brasseries, and more. Vegetarian and vegan options are included!

Sunday Lunch and a bed for the night?

Looking for somewhere to stay you enjoy your Sunday roast in Tunbridge Wells? The Brasserie at One Warwick Park offers a selection of roasts with options changing week by week. With rave reviews about the roast beef, you can’t go wrong. Reviews also mentioned the incredibly generous and delicious cheeseboard to finish your meal. The Mount Edgcumbe offers a classic Sunday roast with a good range of meat options! Fill your boots with half a roast chicken for example.

Sunday Roast from traditional Tunbridge Wells pubs

From September through to April The George offers roast beef and a rotating menu of guest meats of pork, lamb or chicken. They have a veggie option, a halloumi roast, and a vegan falafel roast! Alternatively, if you wanted to head out to the countryside, Sundays 12-5 at The Star in Matfield won’t let you down. They highly recommend booking as their Sunday roasts are incredibly popular. Their pies get great reviews too!

The Neville Crest and Gun just outside Royal Tunbridge Wells, is one of many popular Brunning and Price pubs across the country. Offering a variety of roast options, with all the trimmings. As well as other Sunday options! Most importantly, they offer the option to add a side of pork crackling to any roast regardless of whether it’s pork or not! Alternatively, try another great Brunning and Price pub with the The Hare at Langton Green, which has some different options too, notably a side of pigs in blankets instead of crackling!

For a proper country pub, The Hopbine in Matfield, serves roasts from 12-4pm on Sundays. Offering a range of Beef, Porchetta, Chicken, and Lamb all of which is sourced locally from Paley Farm which is also in the borough! Their Sunday roast is also gluten-free, Yorkshire puddings included! There is also a veggie option of lentil roast.

Fancy a Yorkshire pudding that’s almost big enough to wear as a hat? That’s the claim from The Guinea in Royal Tunbridge Wells about their roasts! With the option to have a mixed roast in case you can’t decide between beef or chicken, it’s a no-brainer. Parsnips and carrots are maple-glazed and the potatoes are crisped up with garlic and thyme, as all good things are! There’s also a vegan option.

Fancy pigs in blankets with your roast year-round? Head to The Allotment Pub in Royal Tunbridge Wells and choose from a variety of meats as well as a veggie option. All meat options include pigs in blankets, and extra roast potatoes can be added for a small supplement.

The Black Horse in Pembury is recommended  with a carvery where you can choose from five meats & includes homemade dessert! Under 5s eat at a discount and there’s a roasted veg and pine nut roast for any veggies in the family!

Set prices for 2/3 courses!

For a regularly changing, high quality meal head to The Kentish Hare in Bidborough where you can get a Sunday roast with a delicious array of starters and desserts. with good value if you choose to get all 3 courses. A variety of non-roast options are also available. Additionally at a similar price point The Beacon near Rusthall has a great range of top-end options and an affordable 3 course option, so you can’t go wrong! With seasonal menus reflective of the best ingredients that the area has to offer, keep an eye on their menu for changes!

A unique option?

Perhaps not the first place you’d think of for a Sunday roast in Tunbridge Wells but you can grab an absolute bargain at the Masonic Centre just north of Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre, with a 4 meat carvery and dessert for a bargain price!

The Royal Oak Hotel in Hawkhurst offers a sharing roast (2-4 people) that’s perfect for a Sunday feast. We’re talking colossal Yorkshire puddings, mountains of crispy roast potatoes, and pigs in blankets so big they’ll make your Christmas ones look like appetizers. With a choice of four meats, including succulent lamb, and all the classic trimmings, this hearty meal is a must-try for roast lovers. And the best part? Unlimited gravy served in a charming china teapot! It’s the little touches that count. The friendly pub is also dog-friendly and accessible for wheelchair users, making it a welcoming spot for everyone to enjoy a delicious Sunday lunch.

    We can highly recommend The Poet in Matfield too. Their Sunday roasts are sublime
